Habitat and description




The Hardhead catfish have six rounded barbles that help it find fish,crab, and shrimp.The dorsal fin is sapported by a sharp, barbed spine.


 

Hardhead catfish are found in the Atlantic ocean.They can also be found and caught in most bay and Gulf waters.

Life history and how to catch

  The male Hardhead catfish deposits its eggs in the spring and they keep the eggs in their mouth until they hatch and from there they can take care of them self's.



       
Hardhead catfish consume large quantities of food so if you
want to try to catch them you can give them any food for bait.
The Hardhead catfish severe pain and swelling.When removing the hook make sure to use pliers or or devices for safety.

Where Hardhead catfish are found

The Hardhead catfish occurs in large numbers in both bay and Gulf waters and can also be caught there.

The Hardhead catfish is difficult to clean and while the flesh is edible
it also isn't very tasty.
